Iteriad were commissioned by South Lakeland Housing in 2014 to design a new sensory garden for their residential care home in Windermere. This garden was created out of an existing area of under-utilised grassland into a new DDA accessible and dementia friendly outdoor space. In consultation with the residents the design incorporates a wander loop with handrails and seating together with a water feature set within cobbles and boulder features, trees and sensory planting.

The garden was designed to comply with the key principles set down in the King's Fund Guide aimed to reconfigure older adult sheltered housing provision to achieve a 'dementia friendly' standard.

The residents have since added their own personal touches and memorabilia once the main garden infrastructure was installed.
